What is the DonationPay platform upgrade?
In December 2022, DonationPay released an updated version of our platform, with new fundraising features, a new gateway, and a new banking partner, Stripe. Going forward, all updates will be made to the new platform version and the old one will be disabled on March 1st, 2024.
What does that mean for my account?
It means that you now have access to additional features through your DonationPay account and, once you’ve completed the account upgrade process, can begin using our new features and gateway.
How do I access the upgrade?
All new features launched on December 1st, 2022 and the upgrade is available to you now. To access the upgrade, you’ll need to follow the steps here.
Do I have to do this now or can I keep using the older system?
The legacy platform with IATS Payments is currently deprecated; no new features are released on the old platform and our team is in process of phasing out making updates or new pages on the old system. For this reason, we strongly encourage clients to complete their upgrade before the March 1st, 2024 cutoff date.
Can I still get customer service and web help (like page changes, new pages and other updates) on my legacy account?

Can I see a demo of the platform upgrade?

Can I keep using my IATS account after the upgrade?
Not with your DonationPay account. Once you’ve upgraded, you won’t need your IATS account to access DonationPay’s services, so we’ll give you instructions on how to close up the account.
What happens to my recurring donations?
You will need to request a data migration from IATS to Stripe, to move your recurring gifts. After you complete your migration application and the DonationPay team has transitioned your pages, you'll get a confirmation email that includes instructions on how to migrate your recurring schedules.
Will the pricing on my account change?
No, with one exception. Our pricing is increasing for clients new to the platform, but we’ve decided to grandfather our existing clients who move their accounts by March 1st 2024 into their current rate structure, so your pricing will stay consistent. The only change is that Stripe, our new banking partner, has a 30¢ transaction fee instead of a 20¢ transaction fee, so that’s the only increased fee you’ll see. You are welcome to offer the option for donors to cover all card fees on your donation forms. Please plan to complete the account migration process by March 1st, 2024 if you would like to retain your current pricing structure.
Do I still use the same Portal account?
No, with the platform upgrade, we’ve redesigned our Portal to include all the details about funds transfers to your bank account and other accounting details, as well as options for instant payouts and other great new tools. The new Portal also offers a self-service page editing interface where you can create and launch new payment pages all on your own, either as embedded forms you’ll embed into pages of your own site, or as hosted pages made using our available templates.
Will I still be able to access my old data?
Yes, absolutely. The new Portal has an area where you can view your archived data from the older system. There should be no loss of data access, and we’ll migrate your recurring payments to the new system directly, so they’ll appear and be editable in your new Portal account like they were in your old one.
How long does the upgrade process take?
The transition to using our new features usually takes 1-3 weeks after you complete your migration application, with your recurring payment migration happening within a month or so of your migration launch date.
